Stenography is defined as one of “speech to text method” under the comprehensive concept of letter and character.
Today, we have many methods to transcribe speech.
Traditional method is ( A ) Hand writing called stenography.
This concept means man operates speech capturing process at attendance ,then man transcribes it .
I think that the former is upstream process and the latter is the down stream process.
Historically stenography adopted Line strokes for basic alphabet.
There are three ideas to symbolize sounds.
First, Geometric school adopted geometrical figure to phoneme, Consonants on phonetic principle.
Second, Cursive school adopted a part of longhand cursive style for basic alphabet on phonetic principle.
Third, mixed advantages of two schools ,called Half-cursive school. It seems to be improved disadvantage of Geometric school. Also it is based on phonetic principle.
The other methods, ( B ) Machine stenography called stenotype , ( C ) Speech recognition; respeak , and ASR, automatic speech recognition and so on.
